Next Season Fixtures

The 2010 season league fixtures are now out, see the fixtures on this website. We have exciting new challenges with the first team welcoming newcomers to the league, Oakham and Loughborough Carillon (aka ‘the scrapyard team’). The second team will also welcome the two first teams of Melton Mowbray and Loghborough Outwoods. Looks like extra practice is called for all round.

Net Practice

Winter nets continue at Grace Road at 7pm on Wednesday evenings through to the end of April. All welcome including new players. Then we hope to be in a position in April to use outdoor nets on our old cricket square.

Ground Developments

Persimmon Homes has now commenced work on building homes on the Aylestone Road part of the ground and this has required us to down size the cricket paying area from its former generous size. We have accordingly built a new square with the professional help of Woodward Turfcare from Wolvey. The grass seeding has taken well. We are currently unsure as to whether or not the new square will be playable for either part or all of the forthcoming 2010 season. As a contingency, we have retained the existing square for temporary use, but it will have short boundary in one corner.

AGM

The club AGM will be held early in the New Year and all members are requested to endeavour to attend  as we will be appointing new captains for the forthcoming year and there will also be an update on the development at the ground.

Welcome to Leicester Electricity Sports CC
Saturday, 12 June 2004

The pavilionWelcome to the Leicester Electricity Sports Cricket Club website. Electricity Sports (Leccy) are a Leicester based cricket club and play at the historic Aylestone Road ground, once home to Leicestershire County Cricket Club between 1901 and 1946. As a result of this, a number of cricketing legends including WG Grace and Sir Don Bradman played on this wicket. It is the most centrally located cricket ground in Leicester itself and even lies between the famous grounds of Leicester City Football Club and Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

LCCC 1932During World War II, the ground was used by the Leicestershire Volunteer Regiment. However, after the war, Leicestershire CCC moved to their current base at Grace Road due to severe damage to ground's facilities.

Currently, there are a number of sides playing at Aylestone Road, including Electricity Sports CC, Leicester City Youth CC and Hazel Primary School.

Leccy field two sides that play in the Everards Leicestershire County Cricket League on Saturdays (Div 3 and 6), and also a Sunday and Midweek side.

We hope you enjoy visiting our website and find out more about our prestigious ground and club. Who knows, you may even want to come along watch sometime, hire the facilities or even play!

Feel free to also find out about our facility hire and the junior club
